20 Fingers is the name of a musical group popular in the early 1990s for producing a series of novelty pop music and rap music songs. Numerous singers affiliated with this group had hits on their own, most notably Gillette (born Sandra) who scored hits with “Short Short Man” and “Mr. Personality”. Another 20 Fingers spin-off resulted in the club hit “Lick It”.
20 Fingers is known for its occasionally sexually explicit lyrics, which has resulted in some songs being released in censored and uncensored versions (for example, Gillette’s “Short Short Man” is entitled “Short Dick Man” in its uncensored version. “Lick It”, similarly, had both edited and unedited versions released.

Blind Melon signed to Capitol Records in 1991 and recorded an unreleased demo. Frontman Shannon Hoon and Axl Rose (who was a friend of Hoon’s sister) re-met, and Hoon sang back-up on several Guns N’ Roses tracks, including “Don’t Cry”. The band’s self-titled debut album, produced by Rick Parashar (Pearl Jam), sold poorly until the single and music video for “No Rain” hit the airwaves and became a smash success, along with the popular video which featured the equally popular “Bee Girl” (played by Heather DeLoach). Subsequently, Blind Melon went platinum four times. After opening for Neil Young, Lenny Kravitz, Soundgarden and The Rolling Stones, Blind Melon’s own tour was cut short due to Hoon’s escalating drug abuse.

“Macarena” is a song by Los del Río about a woman of the same name. It was originally released in 1993, as a new flamenco rumba pop fusion theme with fully Spanish lyrics, with a significant success in Spain and Mexico. After being remixed by the Bayside Boys and having English lyrics added, it became a worldwide hit in summer 1996. The single spent 14 weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, one of the longest runs atop the Hot 100 chart in history. During its heyday, the song was played frequently at professional athletic games, rallies, conventions, and other places. The Macarena remained popular through 1996, but by the end of 1997, its popularity had diminished greatly. The song also broke records at the time by remaining in the Hot 100 chart for 60 weeks.

We'll try to rescue the hits that didn't last as long as they wished.
